As per the image, we are trying to find the cell with a * in it, but Excel keeps saying that all the cells have * in them. Why?
The Find tool looks for an exact match for the entire cell
We have not highlighted the list so Excel is working through all the cells
* is a special character and you cannot search for it in the way shown
* in Excel means 'All Numbers' and as a result it 'finds' all the cells
All these cells must be the result of a multiplication and therefor all the cells contain a *
As per the image, we are trying to find 38??0. Which one of these with Excel find?
If you ask Excel to FIND (37???) in a list as shown below, which one of these will it find
Below in B5 and D5 we are trying to add up the numbers using a SUM function but the answers are clearly wrong. What could the problem be?
The calculation method is set to 'Automatic except Data Tables'
The SUM formula must have been overwritten with the numbers
The calculation method is set to manual
